Meet Pastor Robbie
This is the Yapp family – Robbie, Sarah, and their three kids. The Yapp’s are excited to follow God’s call to plant a church in Los Angeles. Sent out of Bible Baptist Church in Gardena, CA, they are partnering with CA4Christ to establish a new church in LA’s South Bay. They have a heart is to reach people with the gospel, and they would love for you to partner with them in this mission.

Our Purpose
The ultimate purpose of Skyline Baptist Church is to bring glory to our great God. It is our belief that this is best done by obeying the great commandments and obeying the great commission.
Obeying The Great Commandments: Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Obeying The Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Our Pillars
These four pillars give shape, structure, and substance to how we fulfill our purpose.
Worship
We aim to daily worship our great God.
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:24
Preaching
We proclaim the truth of Scripture without apology.
“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
2 Timothy 2:4
Prayer
We wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer.
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Ephesians 6:18
Witness
We share the good news of Jesus Christ with boldness.
“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Ephesians 6:19-20
Our Beliefs
We self identify as an independent Baptist church, which means we are unaffiliated with any particular convention or official denomination. Generally speaking, we hold to the traditional and historic Christian belief.
We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word, preserved through time. We regard the King James Version as the preserved Word of God for English speakers (Psalm 12:6–7; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:19-21).
We believe in one God; Who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, and immutable. We believe He has one nature, one essence, and one substance; yet manifests Himself to man in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 1:17; James 1:17; 1 John 4:4)
We affirm Jesus Christ as the only Savior, eternally God with all attributes of Deity. He was virgin-born, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin. After His resurrection and ascension, He will return to earth to reign for 1,000 years (Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, 43:11; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:25; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1, 1:3, 14, 18, 29; Romans 3:19-25; Romans 5:6-15; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:10-15; Hebrews 7:26, 9:24-28; 1 Peter 1:19, 2:2; 1 John 1:3; Revelation 20:1-6).
We believe in the inherent sin nature of all humans from Adam, making man incapable of self-reform. Salvation is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice alone delivers from sin. Rejecting Christ leads to eternal condemnation in the lake of fire (Genesis 5:1-5; Acts 4:19; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:6-12; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; Revelation 20:11-14).
We believe the church began with the calling of the apostles and was empowered at Pentecost. The local church consists of saved, baptized members united for worship, fellowship, service, and observance of ordinances. True believers will be raptured before the tribulation (Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 1:15; Acts 2:41-43; Acts 11:15; Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; Ephesians 1:12-14; Ephesians 5:25-30; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Timothy 3:4-15).
We interpret Scripture literally in its grammatical and historical context. We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture, seven-year tribulation, pre-millennial return of Christ, 1,000-year reign, Great White Throne judgment, and new heaven and earth (1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22).
What About Heaven?
The greatest gift you can ever receive is the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Whether you’re a skeptic or religous at heart, take a moment to consider the amazing gift of salvation God offers to all who will call upon Him.
